Salary Negotiation Do’s and Don’ts

  • Do make sure that you have done your research on the salary you should expect for the position you are seeking
  • Do be aware of your strengths and achievements.
  • Do let the employer make the first salary offer.
  • Do look at the compensation package as a whole
  • Do get the offer in writing

 

  • Don’t bring up salary before the employer does
  • Don’t get overly aggressive in negotiating your salary
  • Don’t stretch your skills and achievements just to get the salary you want
