Supply Chain Manager

Strategic Planning:

Contributes to the Business Unit (BU) strategic plan and establishes and coordinates the sales and marketing strategy for the BU.
Expected End Result/Key Performance Indicator (How is it measured?):

Strategic Plan prepared, approved and communicated on an annual basis.
Lead Strategic Sourcing and Purchasing Activities: Prepare and execute plans for the BU to ensure purchases are managed and delivered on time, to the right specification and at the lowest cost.

·Manage sourcing and negotiation with key services and utility suppliers to ensure the Raw Material supply/services at competitive cost.

·Ensure Purchasing procedures and internal controls are adhered to.

·Review sourcing strategies for engineered items and other locally requisitioned items.

·Conduct and support programs for cost saving and other purchasing initiatives

Expected End Result/Key Performance Indicator (How is it measured?)

·Sourcing strategies are documented at least annually and reviewed monthly.·KPIs are set and reviewed for nominated suppliers.

·Purchasing cost savings are achieved.

·Supplier contracts are in place that protects BU profitability.

·Professional relationships established with appropriate suppliers.

·Department initiatives and objective achieved

·Plans communicated to team and other support teams
Manage Inventory Levels: Ensure the optimisation of inventory and continuation of efficient operations by:

·Developing material inventory targets to support continuous plant operation according to production plans

·Directing the management of the plant warehouses such that inventory records are accurate and damage is minimised.

·Coordinating disposition of obsolete materials to meet the needs of the business.

Expected End Result/Key Performance Indicator (How is it measured?)

 
·Inventory targets are met both in value and days of inventory
·Evidence of regular review of inventory levels and targets.
·Demonstrated warehouse programs.
·Regular publishing of obsolete materials reports and determination of disposal.

Lead the Planning Function: Ensure the effective and efficient planning of all facets of the operation from raw
material to production to distribution by:

·Developing recommended production cycles.

·Ensuring rates/routings, changeover times, sequences etc. are regularly reviewed and agreed.

·Ensuring detailed schedules are developed in a timely and complete manner.

·Ensuring material planning is consistent with schedules, supplier obligations and inventory policies.

·Promoting compliance to plan with line crews and leaders.·Incidence of failure of schedules due to material unavailability.

Expected End Result/Key Performance Indicator (How is it measured?)

. Conformance to plan is within agreed tolerance.

. Incidence of schedules outside agreed parameters and production plans.

. Incidence of failure of schedules due to material unavailability.

·Parameters reviewed and other planning related meetings.
Distribution: Establish and develop strategy and initiatives to ensure the distribution function is cost and capital effective and can support the business and customer demands as they develop by:

·Maintaining leading industry knowledge of distribution and order processing methods, regulatory requirements and customer supply chain practices through interaction with customers, peers, suppliers and industry groups etc.

·Leading the negotiation and selection of distribution service providers and the development and management of contract relationships.

·Leading operational performance of distribution and order processing through monitoring, gap analysis and continuous improvement.

Expected End Result/Key Performance Indicator (How is it measured?)

·DIFOT objectives measured and achieved

·Distribution costs are accurately measured and within plan
Warehousing: Ensure a safe working environment that provides efficient and controlled management of materials by:

·Promoting and monitoring safety performance and cascade information/initiatives

·Managing operating procedures and local security measures.

·Ensuring physical inventory control procedures include best-practices for achieving accuracy of inventory records.

·Ensuring techniques and practices achieve operating efficiency expectations.

Expected End Result/Key Performance Indicator (How is it measured?)

·Safety incidence rates are within target

·Accurate stock records.

·Timely review/update of procedures and work instructions.

·Operating costs and rates of operation.

Budgeting, S & OP and Forecasting: Manage the preparation of annual budgets, monthly forecasts and demand plans to ensure efficient sales and operations plan.

Expected End Result/Key Performance Indicator (How is it measured?)

·Budgets forecasts prepared on an annual basis.

·Demand Plan forecast are prepared each month for the Sales and
Operating Plan (SOP) process

·Monthly sales forecasts are within +/- 5% of actual.
Expenditure Control: Monitor and review all expenses to ensure effective utilisation, and cost containment
within budget.

·Expenditure is monitored monthly with appropriate approvals as per BU policies and procedures

·Expenditure is within budget

Lead the Team: Develop and implement people and organisation plans that contribute to the achievement
of annual and strategic objectives.

·Position and Person descriptions maintained for all positions.

·SMART objectives are developed and review processes implemented.

·Succession plans are in place.Individual development prepares team members for long-term growth.

·A performance culture is fostered by coaching, counseling and targeted feedback.

·Training and development completed in accordance with plan.

·Staff members are rewarded based on performance and competence.
Policies, Procedures, Integrity and Ethics: Ensures all activities of the Supply Chain Team comply with
relevant acts, legislation, company's ethical standards and policies and procedures.

·Complies with Company's Ethical Standards Policy, procedures and relevant laws.

 

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

A tertiary qualification is essential, preferably in business, engineering (polyme) or science discipline.
A masters level qualification in an associated discipline is desirable


Experience:

10 – 15 year experience with at least 5 years in a high quality, manufacturing organization responsible for supply chain with complex products/range with tight margins.
At least 3 years having led a supply chain function and strength in purchasing and planning.
