National Sales Manager

Job description


Business Planning

  • Seek inputs from field staff and customers on competitive strategies, analyze parent company expectations, evaluate market potential and prepare medium term plans; submit annual expense budget for approval, support plan for manpower, allocate business targets region wise, devise and facilitate communication of activity plans to sales team, review progress as per plans, revise sales targets, prepare alternate strategic plans in order to ensure achievement of sales targets.

Support Sales Operations  

  • Review Region wise sales performance and cost parameters, jointly identify areas of improvement and provide feedback through monthly review meetings with ASM, visit strategic markets, suggest options for new product offerings, decide on sales process improvement initiatives, seek support from other function heads to finalize competitive strategies, lead business review meetings with ASM and also quarterly meetings with field staff in order to ensure achievement of sales targets.

Business Development 

  • Analyze competition, explore alternate options to increase sales, track market receptivity and identify new geographies, jointly prioritize promotion activities with marketing function, attend conferences and present business case for the company, influence decisions of key opinion makers in order to increase market size of total insulin business through new products for the company 
  • Next 6 project management, implementation & following

Support Key Customer Management

  • Visit key customers, seek feedback on own company performance; set systems to gather market intelligence, find ways to use key customers as brand ambassadors for the company’s products, provide inputs to marketing and medical team on corrective strategies for key accounts in order to expand the customer base and increase sales revenue 

People Management

  • Support recruitment of sales staff, set targets and communicate expected standards, provide development feedback, nominate members for skill improvement programs, lead performance review sessions, act as a mentor and coach, encourage informal interactions, initiate innovative reward and recognition schemes; support driving change management interventions and address people apprehensions in order to build a motivated and positive work environment in the sales function

General requirement

  • Graduate in Science/Pharma, Masters in business management preferred
  • 10 years of experience in healthcare and sales management
  • Knowledge of latest updates in the pharmaceutical industry and diabetes care business
