Job Description.

COMPETENCIES: (primary deliverables of competence)
•    Initiate and lead the Sales and Marketing Activity Calendar in the areas of NPD, promotions and campaigns aligned with the business plan. Ensure that the annual business and the Marketing Activity Calendar is translated into customer specific activities.
•    Develop & deploy the channel strategy and plan is translated into sector/customer specific activation programs, understand the key drivers, occasions and trends of the channel and category translate into category and customer plans.
•    Ensure that all customer activities are executed on time and within budget.
•    Owns promotional planning process with CD channel leads
•    Lead category management with select key customers.
•    Ensure Customer Development (CD) Strategy is compatible with achieving annual Account/Channel contribution targets and fulfils Company targets. Work closely with CD team to ensure trade marketing strategies are aligned with sales objectives and revenue targets.
•    Provide specialist support to CD team with customer reviews and business development.
•    Lead promotional and NPD evaluation, and provide recommendations
•    Proactively communicate and build relationships with the Local Marketing

General Requirements:


COMPLEXITY: (degree of change & uncertainty; level of influencing required; degree of matrix working)
•    College Degree
•    4 years+ experience in FMCG/CH environment in a variety of shopper/category/sales/consumer marketing roles
•    Effective strategic thinking  and planning
•    High level of understanding of customer and brand strategy
•    High level of understanding of consumer behavior
•    High level of understanding of how to drive category thinking through to the customer and the shelf
•    Be a compelling seller and stakeholder influencer
•    Excellent communicator and presenter
•    Strong creative skills – demonstrated track record of developing innovative marketing or sales programs
•    Strong commercial acumen


SPECIALISED KNOWLEDGE: (breadth & depth across disciplines / functions; expertise in field required)
•    Strategic thinking and Vision:– Ability to create and communicate a compelling future vision based on a blend of robust data/trend analysis and visionary thought leadership

•    High technical competence:- Minimum 3 years experience in trade marketing including development of category strategies. Ideally in an FMCG or FMCH environment.

•    Business acumen and cross:-functional leadership – Robust understanding of consumer marketing and sales processes with a proven ability to lead the trade marketing agenda in a cross functional working environmenCustomer Focus: – Demonstrates a clear understanding of senior leadership and customer strategy, needs, decision making criteria and timelines. Drives business focus on meeting those needs in a profitable way
•    Channel expertise:- Thorough understanding of all trade channels and differences in shopper mission. Ability to use this understanding to develop business channel strategy

•    Financial Acumen:-Robust P&L understanding and ability to manage and deploy departmental budget for optimal,  evaluated return on investment
